Forgotten Mother

On this auspicious day that is the mother’s day, we can wish our mother and give her presents. But we all know there is no need of such days, all mother wants is her child to respect her, and to succeed in whatever path he/she chooses.
But at the same time I would say that we all have forgotten about our universal mother that is Mother Nature. There is no way can give Her cards and presents to make mens for our disrespect which we have shown to Her.
We have plundered and abused Her and she has been patient with us...till now ... I wonder for how long before She looses her temper decides to give us all beating…

Kingdom of Heaven

“Your soul is in your keeping alone, when you stand before God, you cannot say that I was told by others to do thus, or that virtue wasn’t convenient at the time, this will not suffice.”
This is a dialogue from movie Kingdom of Heaven, just watched it yesterday. Amazing movie, it is about Ballion ,a Knight, who saves Jerusalem from attack of Muslims.
Jerusalem is called Kingdom of Heaven which is the setting for fierce war between Christians and Muslims.
The movie made me think about the “heaven", its past, present and future, and how this land has being place for constant bloodshed and politics.
What is so special about this piece of land which makes men fight battles and kill each other. Sure it is a holy place for three religions, thereby place of dispute, but would the Gods of the respective religion would approve of the bloodshed which is going on in their name.
In one of my previous posts I said that religion serves as a sink where people could pour their anxieties and complains and derive strength from it. What I missed was religion also give men faith and belief.
Faith is a strong thing to possess it can make men stronger and in extreme cases foolish and wild.
It was the faith that made part of Jerusalem’s army believe that God’s army could not be defeated ,and that made them ride out to certain death.
Close to home it was faith that made people do what they did in Ayodhya . It is faith that makes lacs of pilgrims to take dangerous roads to visit temples and other places of worship. They have the faith that God will take care of them if they do the required rituals.
How can anybody rationally justify these acts??

There is no answer for that; it is now part of our life.
People since early ages are easily motivated in the name of religion, politicians and war mongers have time and again exploited this weakness and misled them , resulting in great tragedies . Can there be any end to this??

Indi-Mentals

Following are some observations about us Indians that might make some people angry. But truth is always bitter. For our country sake I hope that they change and are rectified.
We hear people around us complaining about one thing or other always. For example in recent past reservation and Shewag and Kaif playing form are the hot complains.
Bangalore's traffic, weather, pollution and other long list of complains we can hear from one mouth or the other.
This has been problem with us Indians that we tend to use our tongues more than our limbs. Rarely you will find so many people having opinion about almost everything. We complain about politicians and we don’t go to vote. We complain about traffic but do we care enough to use public transport. We complain about the filth on the street but do we care enough not to throw plastic bags on to the street ourselves.
Another aspect of us is that we are inherently lazy. The best example of this is that we gained independence by not doing work for the Britisher’s.(I mean no disrespect for Non Cooperation Movement and Gandhiji).
There was the anecdote where there was a boulder lying on street and many people walking on the street tumble over it. They all complain about it out loud and swore at it, and move on, but nobody has enough common sense that they remove it themselves and get rid of it. That’s us Lazy Indians.
If we are not directly affected we tend to neglect the suffering of others. If it is somebody else’s problem why the hell one should get involved. But if we are in the same fix we expect other people to help us.
We don’t care for the landmarks we have. I have personally seen people scribbling on places like Agra fort where people from different countries come to see the architecture. Another time in Dalhousie Shimla (Switzerland of India) i have seen foreign tourists pocketing their trash
(wrapper and plastic bottles) while Indian tourists just casually throwing their trash on the grasslands. I can tell you it was a pathetic sight.
Another sad aspect of our society the way women are treated in our society. In a country where we worship Durga as the female form of the supreme power we had, and in some places we still have, practices like female infanticide, dowry and sati. This to me seems the crux of hypocorism.
We never seem to prepare for the future .We always react to a situation ,instead of planning for it,. Like now the situation of Bangalore is out of control then we are thinking about having metro instead of planning it before.(in places like London they have the Tube since a century now).
Writting all these things makes me sad. I sincerely hope that our country comes out these mentalities and sees the bigger picture and work together for a bright future.

Following the footsteps

Doctor ka beta doctor ,buisnessman ka beta buisnessan, this are the cliched comments of yester years . Normally in todays world you are free to do anything you want .But what happens when you belong to whole family filled with judges and lawyers and you decide to do engineering.
Well that has happened to me and i can give the first hand expirence of my sufferings which in form of never ending stream of questions are thrusted on me from time to time.
Just because my father is retired high court judge,my mother is Add District judge ,Mathura,my grandfather from maternal side was retired District judge and is lawyer right now in Mumbai high court, grandfather from paternal side was a lawyer,(list is only half finished),uncle from maternal side is district judge of Satara, uncle from paternal side was a lawyer, cousin is a lawyer, aunty from maternal side is a lawyer working in BMC(mumbai) (this list comprises of my immidiate relatives only), I am expected to study law and keep up the family tradition.
Well I already made the mistake and i ,unfortunately going to stick to it. Whenever i am introduced to anyone and he knows my family background the first question is that "beta law kyon nahi pad rahe ho"...
I am prepared with only one answer "interest nahi tha.."
Well not all the people are satisfied with the answer and they go on saying that how can you dont like the profession in which you are brought up.. i really dont have the answer to this question.. i try to avoid answering it by sheepish grin and shrug of shoulder and try to escape.
Even in my all job interviews i am asked the same question.and i tell them about my parents only.i think the trend is going to be continued....
Well i think being reared into a specific kind of enviorment like mine can have two kinds of effect..
Firstly one can absolutely fell in love with the profession and stick to it.
Secondly, which happen to me , you get so bored of it , you dont want to listen any word about it.
The constant dinner table conversations and discussion between mother and father took toll on me and was forced me to look for alternative carrier.
My parents needless to say fully supported me and let me bail out form the law house.I will be the first engineer in my family. It is not that i despise the law profession , i am proud of my parents achivements . It is just i did not see myself doing what they did.
Sometime it is tempting to think what would happen if i had stuck to law ,i would be living in my home ,aram se,and would be under the giudence of greatest mentors. I am happy so say that my brother is carring the family torch and will enjoy these benifits .....
Then i think it is better this way for me to start from scratch and learn to live diffrently.

A debate to remember

There was a debate in our college in class 12 "Female sex of any species is stronger than male"... Two colleges participated SJC (boys) and SMC(girls)..As the topic was interesting huge crowd turned up...
It was very interesting and informative..
Many examples were quoted for and against the topic...
For the support of females the examples give were
  1. Helen launched thousand ships
  2. A specific kind of lady bug who after laying eggs eats its male counterpart
  3. The girls getting special treatment in schools and coachings show that they have the power
  4. Lioness are the one who provide food to male lion
  5. Hitler was driven By his mother's infidelity with a Jew to start World war 2
  6. Cleopatra single handedly threatened the Rome empire.

The points against the topic were

  1. Females are too emotional
  2. They are not fit for stressful job
  3. They need some one for their protection always
  4. Physically they are not as apt as males.

After the debate I pondered over the topic and I realized the debate though very informative and interesting was pointless.

Their is absolutely no way to compare a male and female of any species on mental or physical grounds.

According to me the female sex of any species is GREATER than its male counterpart..

It is the role they play in the society where they give rise to life and nourish it makes them far more important and greater than males...

It is the way we are trained in our lives that results in the individual that we are... A girl can be physically stronger than man if she is trained well enough... She could be also trained handle stressful jobs, taking care of her children and husband is stressful enough. They are also capable of taking care care of their families and earning bread for their loved ones.

As far as world war and troy is concerned they where result of male ego and driven by political reasons nothing to do with female sex being stronger and all.

Undoubtedly female sex has been given greater role to play in the society.. They are in one way or other responsible for behavior of all the males in the society.

Their influence on us as mother is pivotal to our personality. As a wife she is the one that is incharge of her husband's life .Men can go to any length to keep the females in their life impressed and happy.

These makes the role of female sex more greater and responsible in any society.

Mind your religion

From ancient times man has always belive in a superpower as a explaination to unexplained. The thunder, the lightning ,the life ,itself was to complicated for ancient man to come up with a logical solution other than existance of a GOD.One would expect that now we have the proper scienctific explanation to every thing the need of God should be lessen, or atleast the need of religious rituals could be done away with..But on the contrary the need and requirement of God has risen with the rising economy..Now we have to bribe our way through temple ,to avoid never ending ques, to get glimpse of God..and we hope that HE will look after us..afterall we just spent whole lot of money and time on God...I belive that God is needed as a diversion in people's life ,a sink where people can pour their anxiety and complains..HE is not required to show us the way..We know when we are doing wrong and we know that we should do good and all..but when the need is there we still do the wrong things ,rarely we stop to think that whether this activty is religous or not...Or after doing "unreligious activites" we tend to do all kind of religious activities seeking forgiveness ,to make our afterlife better?.I think not ! we do these things so that we dont have to suffer the result of our wrong doing in this life, and feeling less giulty, fully knowing that we are ready to repeat those act when need arises..("bus is bar maf kar do")We are brought up in such a way that we dont challenge the religious coustoms around us and participate in them ..now they are part of our life we cant discard them..We come across people who bleive in existence of God and some of us who dont , i for one want to belive that God exists and some day he take care of my petty little life......

TV Times

In present Indian society TV has became the main driving factor in people lives.. Gone were the days when families went on picnics and strolling through gardens .. it has become increasingly tough to accomodate these activities into hectic schedule of TV..The schedule is so hectic that it is difficult for all the members of the family to live harmoniously without fighting for the remote atleast once in a day..
I am so sad so say that this runs in my family also..me once upon a time ,victim of this diesease.

Especially the "star pariwar" i feel present a disgraceful picture of indian society and the indian women...
Many will say that these serial show women more powerful and dominating so it is good. But between the illicit affairs, the plans of sabotage, the mind games and "ekta kapoor" knows what not ,these good qualities of women becomes second fiddle..
Almost all the serials involves a huge tycoon family with their many millions, they will have equal number of secrets and problems. Big Bungalows as big as stadium ,women in expensive sarees(they are supposed to be at home for Gods sake) with huge amount of makeup plastered onto them , conspiring to bring down a rival family ...
Tell me how many people can identify with such setting ,it is most ridiculos in a country with most of the people stuggling to make both ends meet..
Then after the prime time is over the endless discussions about with whom the female protoganist will go and what is going to happen next ....is just so hopeless.....

Life As It Comes

This is my first attempt to write something creative.
This is about a much discussed topic "How to face adversity".
In my opinion one has to under go many tight spots in their live time sometimes it seems to much too handle. Right now i am suffering from one of these, more about that later.Sometimes you want to cry out loud "why me" or "my luck is really bad for this is happening to me ",almost everybody goes through this phase, moreover sometimes it so happens that one of ur freinds is prime on his luck and u think u are a loser to be in a pathetic situation..
The truth of the matter is adversity is what makes a man strong .. could anyone recall any great person who we know of who had it easy from the begining ,no every body has to struggle to achive something in their life...
It is best to keep our head down and carry on..even if you have done nothing wrong to deserve it... it is similar to travelling in a jam packed train where u can do nothing but to wait for the right station to come...
So take life as it come ,take the sufferins as part of the deal made with life itself ..so that u can enjoy the good moments and cherish them dearly....
