Project 2_ITMC_Cheap Thrills

Let me introduce to you a way of travelling which my friends have discovered. We proudly call ourselves the “CHEAP THRILLS”. We believe in age old adage. .that “the point of journey is not reaching the destination but the journey itself “ Additionally we also believe that the journeys which are marked by confusion, on spot decisions, total desperation and serendipity are more interesting and worth remembering. We have three Commandments to guide us in all the trips that we undertake. Let me explain, enumerating them with the incidents that took place when we went to MM Hills. A place that was made famous by the sandalwood bandit Veerapan and his fearsome moustache. The first commandment. Thou shall plan everything, except for unnecessary details like what, where, how and how many. So one fine weekend we decide to go to MM Hills. We had a vague idea that we would get bus from Majestic (Bangalore Main Bus Stand). But its frequency, the timing of last bus and the time taken t...

Project 1__ITMC__In search of true Niketan

This was my first shot at public speaking.. I must proudly say it went pretty well ; I won the best prepared speech speaker of the day , in my very first speech :) ITMC is acronym for Infosys Toastmasters Club , a forum that encourages public speaking Is it too late? Has the situation become hopeless? We must find out. As I cautiously embark on my public speaking journey before you. Mr. Toastmaster, fellow toastmasters and welcome guests. A very good evening to all. My name finds its root in the hindi word Niketan which means Home. If u put a 'A' before it, it becomes "Homeless"… Homeless .. not Hopeless Its One of the names of Lord Krishna. Signifying his omnipresence, all the world to him is his home, rendering him essentially,a homeless… But, for me the literal meaning suits better. I am a Maharastrian , brought up In UP at 12 different cities and attended 9 different schools; and from last 6 years in Karnataka . Where is My HOME !!! My nomadic li...

Missing Mysore

It’s been almost a year now, but the memories are still fresh. Memories of good times are like wine, they better with time, they become more intoxicating and powerful, enough to make us travel back in time to those hey days. The details may get blurred but we tend to recall exact emotions that we felt then. Such were the days of my training at Infosys Technologies, held in Mysore. I was at perigee of my confidence ,( due to terrible times at my previous job) , I had no idea what to expect , having heard claims of my friends that they were harassed and thoroughly exploited during their training, I was very skeptical of my chances. Only one thing drove me, that it can’t be as bad as my previous stint. The entry was dramatic and it kind of blew my breath away, being whisked away in a golf cart all I could think was WOWWW. Enormous campus, shining glass façade buildings and spick and span boulevards that seemed to stretch for miles in every direction. The thing that really struck out was e...

The Human Junction

Filthy , dirty , stinking and overcrowded ; images that occur to us when somebody mentions about the Indian Railway Stations. But in my opinion, a lot can be learnt from them if we just be receptive enough to look for them. The Railway Platform is like a huge canvass where one can find all the hues of human emotions mingling with each other and forming a brilliant masterpiece, which is a miniature representation of our society itself! I got to observe this masterpiece during my break journey to home this time around. I had two hours to pass on Itarsi station, before I could board the connecting train to Allahabad. Refused to be bound by the ennui of the first class waiting room, I ventured out for a midnight stroll on the platform. The images offered by the railway station were as usual - vivid and diverse!. One could observe myriads of human emotions and behaviors, all brimming in a small place. Few that I could discern were. - The expression of happiness lit up the faces ...

Endless Quest

O slave of Neptune, kings of seas Mighty ocean, what secrets you hold inside thee!! Many fathoms of water you hold, Nobody could ever fathom it no matter how much old. What you think and want is difficult to descry, As you can do anything but cry. There is no way to tell the tears that you shed, From the waters which you tread . Your emotions are shown , By the constant ravaging of the waters you own. For the love which you seek , Is far away in skies beyond your reach. Moon, the gleaming white orb , Is your beloved heartthrob . Every time it comes near , You cry out loud for every one to hear!! The futility of your efforts is evident , None the less you are not diffident . You don’t loose hope , As forgetting love is beyond your scope. There is a lesson from the ocean to be learn, If it’s the love that you want to earn !! You have to keep on trying , Till you melt the heart of your darling.

Love Quotient

This valentine go SentiMental …. This valentine treat your skin so that it glows…. Feel the Love in the air….. What are your plans for this valentine?? …….. Statements like these were booming on the air waves on every radio channel, while I was browsing through them traveling on bus to work yesterday.People surely know to cash in the madness associated with the valentine day.For a person, trickling through the quasi static traffic of Bangalore is a punishment bad enough, and for a single man listening to this sort of gibberish while doing that, is nothing short of torture.I turned off the radio for good, and played Hanuman Chalisa on my cell phone, I thought, its better to indulge in some devotion rather to get more irritated. And who is better than Lord Hanuman (bachelor for life) to distract ones mind from love-shove rubbish. Sadly this Love Bug came chasing me later in the day. When I have to attend a meeting whose theme was Love Quotient . I couldn’t escape reality this time; I had...

Coming Back To Life...

It’s some twenty months since I had written my last blog, it would be gross understatement if I say my life has changed upside down and turned on its head by 360 degrees since then. Actually it’s changed more than that. Why did I just let this forum slip away is a mystery to me also, I guess there was no room for creativity left in those roller coaster months of mine. I have come back with an intend to stay put this time with firmer resolve to update the blog on regular basis and perhaps with more amount of understanding, greater skill sets as far as knowledge of words goes ( took my GRE recently) and more experiences to share. Wish me luck!

Forgotten Mother

On this auspicious day that is the mother’s day, we can wish our mother and give her presents. But we all know there is no need of such days, all mother wants is her child to respect her, and to succeed in whatever path he/she chooses. But at the same time I would say that we all have forgotten about our universal mother that is Mother Nature. There is no way can give Her cards and presents to make mens for our disrespect which we have shown to Her. We have plundered and abused Her and she has been patient with us...till now ... I wonder for how long before She looses her temper decides to give us all beating…

Kingdom of Heaven

“Your soul is in your keeping alone, when you stand before God, you cannot say that I was told by others to do thus, or that virtue wasn’t convenient at the time, this will not suffice.” This is a dialogue from movie Kingdom of Heaven, just watched it yesterday. Amazing movie, it is about Ballion ,a Knight, who saves Jerusalem from attack of Muslims. Jerusalem is called Kingdom of Heaven which is the setting for fierce war between Christians and Muslims. The movie made me think about the “heaven", its past, present and future, and how this land has being place for constant bloodshed and politics. What is so special about this piece of land which makes men fight battles and kill each other. Sure it is a holy place for three religions, thereby place of dispute, but would the Gods of the respective religion would approve of the bloodshed which is going on in their name. In one of my previous posts I said that religion serves as a sink where people could pour their anxieties and compl...

Indi-Mentals

Following are some observations about us Indians that might make some people angry. But truth is always bitter. For our country sake I hope that they change and are rectified. We hear people around us complaining about one thing or other always. For example in recent past reservation and Shewag and Kaif playing form are the hot complains. Bangalore's traffic, weather, pollution and other long list of complains we can hear from one mouth or the other. This has been problem with us Indians that we tend to use our tongues more than our limbs. Rarely you will find so many people having opinion about almost everything. We complain about politicians and we don’t go to vote. We complain about traffic but do we care enough to use public transport. We complain about the filth on the street but do we care enough not to throw plastic bags on to the street ourselves. Another aspect of us is that we are inherently lazy. The best example of this is that we gained independence by not doing work f...

A debate to remember

There was a debate in our college in class 12 "Female sex of any species is stronger than male"... Two colleges participated SJC (boys) and SMC(girls)..As the topic was interesting huge crowd turned up... It was very interesting and informative.. Many examples were quoted for and against the topic... For the support of females the examples give were Helen launched thousand ships A specific kind of lady bug who after laying eggs eats its male counterpart The girls getting special treatment in schools and coachings show that they have the power Lioness are the one who provide food to male lion Hitler was driven By his mother's infidelity with a Jew to start World war 2 Cleopatra single handedly threatened the Rome empire. The points against the topic were Females are too emotional They are not fit for stressful job They need some one for their protection always Physically they are not as apt as males. After the debate I pondered over the topic and I realized the debate thou...

Mind your religion

From ancient times man has always belive in a superpower as a explaination to unexplained. The thunder, the lightning ,the life ,itself was to complicated for ancient man to come up with a logical solution other than existance of a GOD.One would expect that now we have the proper scienctific explanation to every thing the need of God should be lessen, or atleast the need of religious rituals could be done away with..But on the contrary the need and requirement of God has risen with the rising economy..Now we have to bribe our way through temple ,to avoid never ending ques, to get glimpse of God..and we hope that HE will look after us..afterall we just spent whole lot of money and time on God...I belive that God is needed as a diversion in people's life ,a sink where people can pour their anxiety and complains..HE is not required to show us the way..We know when we are doing wrong and we know that we should do good and all..but when the need is there we still do the wrong things ,rar...

TV Times

In present Indian society TV has became the main driving factor in people lives.. Gone were the days when families went on picnics and strolling through gardens .. it has become increasingly tough to accomodate these activities into hectic schedule of TV..The schedule is so hectic that it is difficult for all the members of the family to live harmoniously without fighting for the remote atleast once in a day.. I am so sad so say that this runs in my family also..me once upon a time ,victim of this diesease. Especially the "star pariwar" i feel present a disgraceful picture of indian society and the indian women... Many will say that these serial show women more powerful and dominating so it is good. But between the illicit affairs, the plans of sabotage, the mind games and "ekta kapoor" knows what not ,these good qualities of women becomes second fiddle.. Almost all the serials involves a huge tycoon family with their many millions, they will have equal number of secre...

Life As It Comes

This is my first attempt to write something creative. This is about a much discussed topic "How to face adversity". In my opinion one has to under go many tight spots in their live time sometimes it seems to much too handle. Right now i am suffering from one of these, more about that later.Sometimes you want to cry out loud "why me" or "my luck is really bad for this is happening to me ",almost everybody goes through this phase, moreover sometimes it so happens that one of ur freinds is prime on his luck and u think u are a loser to be in a pathetic situation.. The truth of the matter is adversity is what makes a man strong .. could anyone recall any great person who we know of who had it easy from the begining ,no every body has to struggle to achive something in their life... It is best to keep our head down and carry on..even if you have done nothing wrong to deserve it... it is similar to travelling in a jam packed train where u can do nothing but to wa...
